‘How do you get so much mental energy after such a hard day?’ A client who had come specifically for the discussion from another city, and with whom I talked for about three hours, until late in the evening, asked me.
I got lost, I admit. I don’t know how not to have the energy to do what I love: coaching, mentoring, consulting (well, and others: books, perfumes, cities of the world, shoes, those useless things that make my life more beautiful). I don’t know how not to have energy when I’m passionate about something when I’m totally involved in the discussion.
I just said, “I don’t know, maybe because I like what I’m doing,” then I changed the subject, with my eyes fixed on my own nails.
I don’t know otherwise and I don’t want to know otherwise.
For me, what I do is part of who I am, in my life, how could I be without energy in my life?
This does not mean that I do not take breaks, that I do not get tired. We all need to rest, to relax, to sleep, to have various activities, to build our lives in more colors, in more tones. When existence is monochromatic, we get bored, we stop growing, nothing suits us anymore and we fall into the sin of placing ourselves in a valley of continuous crying.
I don’t know if we are all lucky enough to find that type of job that matches our passion. But we can all choose to do any activity with dedication. It depends on how we choose to position ourselves.
Here are some ideas for finding our energy.
Write down three things that give you energy, with which, if you could do them often, you would have full batteries.
E.g: To read a novel; to meditate; to go to the park with someone; to practice a sport; to climb the mountain; to write in a diary; to sleep more.
About what percentage of your time do you do these activities? 50% of the time? 70%? 30%?
If you cut back on your daily activities, would you have more time to recharge your batteries?
For example, if you reduced your time on social media by 50%, what could you do with your time?
Allow yourself to take a break, from time to time, as follows:
During the day, to focus, to detach a little, to regain your strength;
Once a week, to rest, to change the scenery;
A longer break monthly or quarterly, to look for inspiration, to stay with yourself, then with your loved ones, to get out of everyday life, to practice one of your passions, to put aside the usual activity, to sleep, to rest.
After all, if we take care to recharge our mouth shower, why neglect our own person?
