I recently saw the movie La Grande Bellezza, the one that I have been waiting for. It is a long movie, in which you enter with a state of curiosity and leave, together with the main character, in search of something … of great beauty …
The movie is full of metaphors, beautiful images, suggestions, cultural references, of philosophical ideas.
Beyond this movie, I was left with some questions: how do we search and, hopefully, find, a great beauty in this world, especially now, when our freedoms are so limited? Where is this beauty? What else gets us excited?
I think of a few things that move me:
- To see a beautiful child on the street
- To admire a painting in a museum or even the museum itself
- To feel the taste of the sun, of the sea, and of the sand on wet skin
- To listen to a concert of classical or rock music
- Love, in all its forms
- The light sound of the wind on the last day of summer
- A snowflake on the cheek of a loved one
- Poems
- A Sorrentino, Bunuel or Bertolucci movie
- A photo that captures a state
Where else do you capture beauty?
