”- Now that I’ve had my second dose, can I leave home?

– Where do you want to go?

– Here, there, anywhere, but to go out.”

– Not yet, we’ll go out together, you’ll see, wait another two weeks.

– Why? Am I in jail?”

My mother wants to go out, she wants to know she can leave at any time, and I insist she does not. Not that it would be too easy for her to walk, she has some problems with her legs, her back. But the idea of a certain freedom that I limit doesn’t really give her peace.

It hurt when she said I was holding her like she was in prison.

Maybe sometimes we all have this feeling of captivity and, because we don’t have someone close to whom we can blame for restricting us, we do it to the Minister of Health, the government, we totally blame the world conspiracy, some powers that manipulate us.

I don’t know where the truth lies, I don’t know if the pandemic is based on something created or an occurrence. But what I know is that:

The pandemic has accelerated the process of technologicalization in many areas;

The way we work has changed forever;

Few other events could have interrupted the crazy way society evolved or involved (consumption, resources, devaluation of norms, principles, to give a few examples);

When we hear so many doctors saying that they are tired, it is good to focus more on our own behavior, there will be no one to take care of the sick;

Individual responsibility is more important than ever. Of course, we have the right to opinions, but when we throw mud at each other, we sow seeds of hatred; and hatred quickly takes root, much faster than care, responsibility, love, unfortunately;

We need to remember and exercise patience. I know, technology, social media demand speed; companies require agility in thinking. At the same time, I believe that the secret lies in keeping a balance between this agility, this speed, and the cultivation of patience. Mr. Goe, the restless child in us, wants his train to come now. The train will come, it’s on its way, but it’s going slow, it takes longer. How? Some time.

I also know that I have to take my mother somewhere where the world is not crowded so that she can continue to trust and create a drop of variety.
