A few days of this new year have already gone by. Some of us have made plans, while others no longer believe in setting goals. Maybe we prefer to live in the present, free from the pressure that goals can create. Or maybe we’ve learned that no matter how much we plan, life always has a way of surprising us and turning things upside down.

I’m one of those people who write down their wishes at the start of each year. I don’t always fulfill all of them—sometimes they change along the way—but it helps to have a few broad directions to guide me.

I’m not necessarily inviting you to do the same, but I’d like to propose a small reflection exercise with a few simple questions:

  1. What would you like your greatest achievement of 2025 to be?
  2. What would you like to change about yourself in 2025?
  3. If you were to give this year a theme word, what would it be?

In my case, I’ve chosen four words instead of one. I want this year to be about:

  • Consistency – in writing, in following through with what I’ve set out to do, both professionally and personally.
  • Flexibility – in approach, so I can better adapt to reality, let go of people and experiences that weigh me down, and seek out new ones.
  • Courage – to say “No” to things or people that no longer serve me, and “Yes” to others; to take action on ideas that have been stuck in the back of my mind for far too long.
  • Inspiration – to meet people who inspire me, to read books that motivate me.

Now, I propose a simple experiment: close your eyes and imagine someone who admires you for something you’re truly good at. What is that “something”? That’s your superpower.
Invest in it, cultivate it, develop it.

And if you don’t know what others might admire about you, ask a few people you trust. Listen to their answers, write them down, and reflect on them.

Wishing you a year exactly as you want it to be!
