“There is still room for growth, we have some projects to grow in this area of technology, but also the fact that we can have an online interview, everyone from their homes, we can talk to people from different countries is a great achievement.”
Georgeta Dendrino, managing director of Interact, a training and consultancy business, says technology has allowed her business to streamline the way it works.
“Technology has influenced us for the better and I would say this period has been a good one for us. It was difficult last year for the first couple of months, but we’ve learned to use technology and I think we’ve streamlined the way we do things. There is still room for growth, we have some projects to grow in this area of technology, but also the fact that we can have an online interview, everyone from their home, we can talk to people from different countries is a great achievement and we appreciate that. It has influenced us for the better and we hope to continue to use technology even after we get through this pandemic a bit more than we do,” said Georgeta Dendrino for the show Women in Business produced by ZF in partnership with Vodafone.
With over 20 years of experience in training and consulting, Georgeta Dendrino has an Executive Master’s degree in coaching and consulting from INSEAD Business School (France), is a graduate of Asebuss’ EMBA program, vice president of partnerships at Professional Women’s Network – the largest business network for women with 28 branches worldwide – and a board member of the Association for Values in Education.
“My involvement in education came as a natural continuation of the passions I have, especially my concern for education. I have always wanted to be a teacher, I have been a teacher and I think my time working with young people was one of the best times of my life. AVE is the Association for Values in Education and I enjoy working with school principals to help transform education in Romania. The same goes for Romania Gifted School, where it’s all about gifted children. When it comes to the Professional Women’s Network, I would say that this involvement is also in the area of supporting the development of people to discover what they want, to have more confidence in themselves, and to succeed in what they want,” says Georgeta Dendrino about her work.
On the evolution of the training market over the past 20 years, she says the market is still very fragmented, but companies in the industry have become more professional over this period.
“I think training companies have also become more professional, as well as the companies that require training. You can’t just go out and learn with the clients anymore. I think since last year people can’t sit in front of the laptop and hear theories anymore, they want to learn about the facilitator’s experience, about real cases, they want to empathize with them and come up with new things and surprise them a little. It’s fashionable now to talk about this concept of wellbeing, to go beyond talking about it towards actually applying it.”
Vodafone Romania has launched the “Special Edition, Vodafone – Ziarul Financiar” commercial package, which offers small and medium-sized companies a complete connectivity service solution, unlimited access to the ZF Corporate platform, and support through a dedicated Vodafone consultant.
What Georgeta Dendrino, Managing Director, Interact Business Communication also had to say on Women in Business:
What would be the first decision you would make if you were in charge of the government?
“There would be three things I would do: I would make a very strict plan to defeat the pandemic, we have seen that France, Portugal, Italy are very close to defeating the pandemic and I think a very strict plan is important. Secondly, I would focus on education, we are still somewhat at the bottom of the league table in Europe and that’s why I got involved in causes involving education. I would emphasize education in the long term, it is the only one that can get us out of a less pleasant state. Third, I would get an adviser who is not from a political party. “
In Romania, the pay gap between female and male leaders is smaller than globally. How do you explain this smaller gap?
“There is a small gap, I had recently read that in Romania the percentage of women in top management positions is quite high compared to other EU countries. This is a good thing, maybe it also comes from the fact that women are quite strong-willed in Romania and we were brought up to hold several balls in the air at the same time: family, friends, career, to take care of everything and not to complain. I think it comes from a type of upbringing. It can also lead to female burnout.
If we compare what is happening in Romania and how women approach their jobs versus what is happening in some Western European countries, I would say that women are more career-oriented. Maybe their confidence in each other is less developed, maybe that’s part of it.”
What’s the best leadership advice you’ve ever received?
“There have been a few, I would say that from my parents I learned to trust myself, they told me that I know best what’s good for me, and another one piece of advice I got later from a friend was to always leave places or people on good terms, in all situations.”
