You have certainly seen that on some summer days, the sky suddenly darkens with black clouds, bringing rain and storm. After a healthy rapture, however, nature rewards us every time with a surprisingly beautiful rainbow, we just have to be patient to appear, to look for it in the sky.
The year 2020 was like those days with black clouds, with torrential rain, when you don’t know where to hide. It scared us, shocked us, puzzled us, hurt us, took us to the lower limit of our powers, in some moments, made us shiver. Few of those around us we were able to control. And then, as we advanced through the storm, with a metaphorical umbrella bent by the wind, we returned to work on what is most important: ourselves.
The cloudy period is not over yet, but there is a ray of hope and we know that, soon, the sun will pleasantly surprise us. Next year will not change anything from the first month, but the transformation will occur. It’s time to think about the future and:
- Let’s appreciate the resilience, the perseverance we have all shown;
- Let’s disconnect a little from the laptop, emails, social media;
- Let’s accept what we can and can’t change around us and make more transformation efforts within ourselves;
- Let’s reconnect with those who really matter, with activities that bring us joy now and long-term value:
Time with loved ones, even if on the phone, on video, let’s not forget to hear their voice, to see them, not to procrastinate until the pandemic ends;
Outdoor walks, even if short, with all measures taken;
Books: they give us perspectives, develop us, make us live more lives, forget for a while the sometimes harder reality;
Movies: relax us, invite us to other universes, stimulate our imagination;
Music: the French say that music softens morals. I read somewhere that Mozart’s music relaxes and nourishes our creativity;
Rest: we fully deserve after a difficult year; to treat ourselves with care, as we do with our phone when it no longer has a battery: we charge it;
Let’s dare to dream about what next year could be, how we would like to be, what would fulfill us, enjoy, amaze, how we would like to create memorable moments in the future.
The year 2021 will be different, with more possibilities and hope. Happy New Year!
Per aspera ad astra!
